How I ended up here

Hi, I’m Travis! I am from Redding, California, where I started in gymnastics at the age of 4 years, and eventually I coached at my parent’s gymnastics club (in 1997). But after living in northern California for so long, it was time to get out of the small town, so I moved to San Diego, California, where I continued my coaching career with a couple different gymnastics clubs in the area.

In July of 2015, I was contacted by CrossFit Invictus, who was also in San Diego. They invited him to come have a talk because they were looking for a gymnastics coach that might be able to help their Games team with their gymnastics skills… and that is how I met CrossFit!

CJ Martin, owner of Invictus, noticed that what I had to offer was a different set of skills than the other gymnastics coaches he had worked with in the past. Because I had never been exposed to CrossFit before, I had a different perspective on the so-called “gymnastics” movements.

When the seasoned coaches at Invictus saw me working new drills they had never seen, they asked me to let them video me explaining the drill. The led to a hell of a lot of tutorial videos, and eventually an online program called Invictus Gymnastics. Since January of 2017 I have reached and trained thousands of athletes around the globe through the online course, and I couldn’t be more grateful for my great luck of joining Invictus and their willingness to trust me under the label of their Great, Green V.

In 2018 I started coaching gymnastics seminars. My first one was in Kailua, Hawaii, and my second one was in Woolgoolga, NSW, Australia! Traveling around the world coaching groups of athletes was initially terrifying, but over time I learned to keep the nerves at bay and focused myself on how to best communicate to athletes everywhere. At this point, I have coached over 80 seminars and workshops in 27 countries, many gyms of which I have coached at multiple times, made friends all around the world in both business and private life, and I couldn’t be more grateful for this life.

Fairly recently I decided I would travel full-time. I sold all of my things and hit the road. I figured I would likely be traveling full-time for 3-5 years or so, but in December of 2023 I was spending time in Bali, Indonesia, over the holidays (no coaching opportunities that time of the year), and I met the most incredible lady. Since then I have progressively spent more and more time in Sydney, Australia, where she lives with her daughter, and I’m happy to say that meeting them was one of life’s curveballs I am happy to have been hit by :) So, when I’m not traveling for seminars, it’s likely that I’m in Sydney!
